1. Description:

A great variety of ceramics have been successfully sintered using microwaves over the past 30 years: structural ceramics (Al203, ZnO, SiC, MgAl2O4, Y–PSZ, Y–TZP/Al2O3, TiO2), bioceramics (hydroxyapatite), functional ceramics (ZnO,BaTiO3), composites (MgO–Y2O3, ZrB2–B4C, WC–Co), magnetic ceramics (Ni–Zn ferrites), translucent or transparent ceramics (AlN, MgO, ALON)… Details can be found in various review papers (Das et al., 2009; Karayannis, 2016; Katz, 1992; Oghbaei and Mirzaee, 2010). Experiments involve a high diversity of frequencies (from 915 MHz to 50 GHz and above), of cavities (single mode, multimode, rectangular or cylindrical), using direct, hybrid or indirect heating.
